No Pressure – SALVATORE MUNDI ft. DRéA
Roles:
Creative Producer & Director
Director’s Treatment:
A visual portrayal of the tension that can build within a relationship as time goes on → post honeymoon phase. Using body language, cinematic technique, lighting, and blocking, the goal is to emphasize the universal but often lonely question of “is this person the one?” We will explore the often overlooked push and pull that comes with merging your life with another. Power dynamics often change throughout relationships, especially with two strong willed individuals. We will see representations of this power struggle throughout the video and it’s different scenes, ultimately casting Dre as the “femme fatale.” Through Dre and Shane’s performance, the audience should get a sense of the longing, tension, uncertainty, frustration, nostalgia and oftentimes the cruelty displayed during this monumental time in a romantic partnership. Shane wants an answer that Dre just cannot give him, and the contradictory repeated lines of “no pressure but I want the truth” followed by the ultimatum of “tell me it’s just me and you,” eventually causes Dre to snap, choosing herself. The dialogue will be both spoken (through song lyrics) and unspoken through cinematic technique that is tension building. We will show just how far you can be from somebody while physically sitting at the same table as them during the dinner scene. The pool game will serve as a representation of ever changing power dynamics, as they challenge each other both physically and metaphorically. Flashbacks will be incorporated throughout.
